Is it possible to use WNDR3700 as a repeater bridge in dd-wrt to connect to a dlink DIR-655 with stock firmware. The DIR-655 doesn't have sufficient range. I wanted to extend it by placing a bridge in a hallway. However, I haven't been able to get the repeater bridge after installing dd-wrt on the WND3700 to work. A WRT54G repeater bridge works

I set up my wireless repeater, then select wireless mode repeater bridge, the wan ip goes to disabled. If I now set wireless mode back to repeater, the wan IP goes to 0.0.0.0 and never gets an IP. If I try to reboot the router now, it does not boot correctly any more. I've been using dd-wrt regularly for about 5 years now and it's served me well as a repeater bridge within my home network. No complaints. Recently, a local merchant I do business with was telling me (complaining) about how he is just out of range of being able to pick up a Bright House Cable wifi hotspot and how, as a BHN customer, he'd like to be able to connect so he has Internet at his client bridge/repeater/wds never had correct time, they are bridges, they dont understand having a wan connection = cant update time. this is the way its been since forever. unrelated to the time update issue which is now fixed (for ap modes etc) Set your PC's ethernet or Wi-Fi settings at static IP 192.168.2.10 and default gateway 192.168.2.1, then connect again to the wifi repeater (through ethernet or wifi). When you finish all of the following steps, remember to reset your PC's IP address back to the original address (or DHCP), otherwise you won't have Internet access. In configuring the DD-WRT router to act as a wireless repeater, you must configure two connections. The first, is the wireless link between the remote AP and the DD-WRT router. This is configured on the DD-WRT routers physical interface so that the DD-WRT router can join the remote AP's network as a client, just like a laptop would. I don't have the G1100, but I was able to set up a 54G (flashed with DD-WRT) as a bridge/repeater with the prior model Actiontec 424. Off hand I can't think of any settings on the primary router I changed to work with a repeater. Take a look at the Wiki for DD-WRT. You must follow all the steps very precisely to get it to work as a bridge/repeater.

Aug 29, 2012 · I'm just using straight repeater configuration, no bridge. Even in bone stock DD WRT configuration the WLAN port doesn't allow for control of the Linksys, only the four LAN ports do that. Of course I know just enough about networking to be a true danger to any network I might try to do anything with. The secondary router running DD-WRT v24 will be configured as the Repeater Bridge. My wired throughput is faster (clients wired to the bridges). My wireless is the same as WDS.
